Innovam is the leading knowledge and education centre for the transport and automotive industry. Providing training by industry specialists, Innovam performs over 85,000 training courses and exams each year. Through the level of training and examinations on offer they are a major contributor to the increased professionalism within the industry. In addition Innovam is recognised as a respected partner for numerous government services including the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
Innovam has three hundred employees, including technical trainers, human resources, management consultants, and administration staff. It offers a diverse work environment that focuses on personal development. Innovam has offices in Nieuwegein, Dordrecht, Best, Zwolle and Zaandam. Their annual turnover is €33 million a year.
The challenge:
Previously
Innovam used CA Arcserve for their backup and recovery,
they found the product inefficient as it could not perform
backups within the time frame they required. They had also
tried several other products for backup but they also
couldn’t perform backups within the specific time frame.
The solution:
In 2004
their reseller eXpertise-IT suggested CommVault as a
solution for their backup and recovery to eliminate the
problems they were experiencing. After a successful proof
of concept Innovam purchased and installed CommVault, they
were pleased to report that even the large Netware Volumes
were backed up within the backup window.
The result:
Since
the initial install CommVault has been used more
extensively and has evolved with configuration changes,
involving Network Appliance and Data Domain hardware,
Netware classics to OES migration and using VMware within a
test environment. They have also used backup to disk to
tape strategy, in order to improve backup performance and
fast recovery of recent versions of data.
Their current environment consists of around 50 servers,
including windows, NetWare and OES. Innovam is now looking
to deploy Archiving for Exchange, in order to reduce
storage requirements for their exchange environment and to
further reduce their backup times.
